​Hertfordshire ASA was founded in 1935 and is in charge of all aquatic disciplines in Hertfordshire. For swimming they manage the Development Meet, Hertfordshire County Championships, Hertfordshire Masters Championships, the Daplyn Trophy, County Teams and County Development Camps. A list of other affiliated clubs can be found on the website, along with information regarding the above events, becoming and official and joining the Herts ASA committees.

The ASA was established in 1869 and was the first governing body set up in the world. Today it is the English governing body for all aquatic disciplines. Clubs must be ASA affiliated, and all members of the club must be ASA members. National Championships and National Team Championships are organised by the ASA. The website provides detailed information on all aspects of swimming including volunteering, competitions and rankings.

​ASA East Region is the regional body to which Herts ASA and Harpenden SC are affiliated. They are in charge of all aquatic disciplines in the East Region. This encompasses Bedfordshire, Cambridge, Essex, Norfolk, Suffolk and Hertfordshire. ASA East Region manage the Regional Championships. Information regarding the Championships as well as licensed meets on the region, funding for coaching qualifications and much more can be found on the website.

Hertfordshire Swimming League ï»¿was founded in 1979 and runs Herts Major League and Herts Peanuts League, both of which Harpenden compete in.

The IOS Online is the place to go for information on courses if you're looking to become a teacher/coach.



​FINA, Federation Internationale de NAtation, are the world governing body of swimming. World rankings can be found here, along with information and results of international competitions.
